Southern Avenue – Keep On

Artist: Southern Avenue
Label: Concord Records
Formats: CD, LP, Digital
Release Date: May 10, 2019

Southern Avenue was the talk of Memphis when they released their self-titled debut album in 2017, which hit #6 on Billboard’s Top Blues Albums Chart. Listeners loved the group’s effortless soul, blues, and R&B fusion and the band went on to perform in high-profile festivals as well as reach the finals of the International Blues Challenge. After two years of touring and working tirelessly on their music, Southern Avenue is releasing their much-anticipated sophomore album, Keep On.

A departure from the fast-paced production of their debut album, Keep On was meticulously crafted to showcase the band members’ wide-ranging musical interests and powerful chemistry that they’ve honed through their extensive stage experience. Emotionally-charged tracks like “Whiskey Love,” “Too Good For You,” and the gospel infused “Savior” combine the expressive vocals of Memphis-born Tierinii Jackson with the power of drummer Tikyra Jackson (her sister), the versatility of keyboardist Jeremy Powell, and talent of gifted guitarist Ori Naftaly. There is even a guest appearance by legendary Stax recording artist William Bell. The fusion of these talented musicians, each with diverse backgrounds and musical interests, results in a gritty, soulful sound that is unique to Southern Avenue.

Named for a Memphis street that leads to Stax Record’s Soulsville, Southern Avenue has yet again done the city proud with their soulful fusion of genres. The group will be on tour throughout this spring and summer and, if this tour is anything like their last, each performance will be electrifying and a real treat for audiences.
